MELODY
Daylight waning,
Shadows falling.
Moon is rising,
Night winds calling.
Time drifts by
On silken wings,
Far and low
A song it sings.
It sings of love
And letters sent,
It sings of loss
And years misspent.
It sings of birth
As life begins,
It mourns as death,
Our journey ends.
It sings the melody
Of our lives
And sometimes makes us
Wonder why
We didn’t, when we
Had the chance,
Change the notes,
The refrain perhaps.
The past is gone,
It can’t be changed;
Look forward now
With knowledge gained.
Listen close in the
Hushed, still night
To the song of time
On its endless flight.

Perfect. The image of “changing the notes” resonates with me today. Wonderful contribution. Thanks.
Image in harmony with words.
I love the idea of life as a melody and that there is a possibility that we can change the notes. Very well done!
“the song of time”-Daylight- Shadows-
Moon -Night _moving like a slideshow..for sharing this thank u..
You know I love that photograph! Change the notes sticks with me, too. Actually, the whole will stay with me.
I almost sang this poem, it reads like a song.
This was just excellent! You’ve raised some tough questions to ponder too. Your presentation also added so much. Well done. G

This is a really beautiful poem with much depth. I agree with teric that it reads like a song. Lovely.
That last stanza is especially good.
Lovely poetry and wonderful photo. The subject’s hands are most beautiful!
A lovely poem both for the prompt and for summer nights.
Love the idea of the song of time. Beautifully created!
I am blown away by the image and the poem. Both are fantastic!
and if we could have changed those notes…….would we have written a “hit” ?? really thoughtful poem…thank you.
Wonderful!
A song unto itself! Very nice!
Harmonious harmonies in harmony with life!
God has given you a great gift.
Beauty without and beauty within.
This reads very well. The hardest message in life is you can’t change the past. We can however, prepare for the future, using the past to guide us. It’s like hearing a new song for the first time. Ponder! This is a wonderful poem!
Love this and the photo with it.
you have wonderful work, I really enjoy looking at it, and reading it. It takes my mind away after a long hard day.(you know what I mean)
