Thankfulness

First of all, I thank God for all the many blessings He’s given me throughout my life.  Much more than I deserve, really.  I’m very thankful for my family and friends.  I’m also very thankful that in this time of economic crisis, I have an excellent job and an outstanding group of co-workers to work with.

I’m thankful for all the beauty I find around me every day, in any season.

I’m thankful to have a camera to capture that beauty with, and to have the internet as a means to share it.

I’m thankful for my good health.

I’m thankful for my pets, who add so much richness and enjoyment to my life.

I’m thankful to have a nice, cozy little house to live in, a hot shower every day, food on the table and more to spare in the pantry.

There are so many things I’m blessed with that I am thankful for, and these few I’ve mentioned are only the beginning…

I took these shots of the sunrise over Lake Antoine right after I got out of work this morning.   This is why it pays to carry a camera with you everywhere you go.  You just never know what you might see.

Sunset Haiku

A Good Start

What do you call a cold November day that brings a dusting of snow?  A good start.  Now lets have about another couple of feet.  I’m dying to get out and snowshoe.  Been waiting impatiently for it since last March.  I could do without the bitter cold we are bound to get, but bring on the snow.  This world we live in is so beautiful already, but a fresh layer of snow against a bright blue sky on a sunny day makes it even better.  These pics are from my walk yesterday.  I like how you can see the snowflakes in the air in the first pic.

Sunday Morning Sunrise

I took this first shot about 15 minutes before sunrise.

I took this shot 35 minutes after the first.  These clouds rolled in between the 2 shots, making for a pretty sunrise.

What If

WHAT IF?

What if we were born, my friend,

in another place and time?

Would I still be yours?

Would you still be mine?

What if people learned to love

each other as they should?

Would we then all get along,

Not be misunderstood?

If the rain stopped falling down,

would the rivers all run dry?

What if every bird on earth

decided not to fly?

What if the sun refused to shine?

Would day then turn to night?

Would darkness be our way of life,

the absence of all light?

What if the moon and stars

No longer filled the sky?

The emptiness above

Would make me want to cry.

What if the next breath that you take

were to be your very last?

Would you leave this world contented,

or regretful of the past?

What would you attempt to do

if you knew you would succeed?

Hear the voice within your heart

and always pay it heed.

November Sunset

Today, November 1st, was a simply beautiful day.  Wonderful blue skies, mild temps and gentle breeze.  This breath-taking sunset was the perfect ending to such a great day.  I looked out my window just after sunset and saw the colors, grabbed my camera and made a run for County Line Road, where there’s a great, open view of the west.
