This is where I hesitated, trying to decide which way to go. It didn’t really matter because it just makes a loop, but I stopped to think about it anyway. I went to the left, simply because it appeared to be the road less traveled.

OK, I take back all the complaining I did about the drizzle and rain we got on Saturday, because it caused the snow we got early Sunday morning to stick to everything like glue. It was absolutely breath-taking out in the woods, and I went snowshoeing for 2 1/2 hours. I just kept snapping pics and hiking around. I just couldn’t get enough of the beauty around me. It is my great pleasure to share these pics with you. If you’d like to see them in a little larger size, click on “Nancy’s Wunderground Photo Gallery” in the blogroll. There’s quite a few pics in this series, so I’ll spread them out over a few days. By the way, do you ever get tired of looking at pics of old roads, trails and snowshoe trails? Huh, that’s funny, me neither! Lucky for you, I have plenty to share. All I can say is, “wish you were there with me” cuz it was so much more awesome to see it firsthand. This is my nephew’s Jeep. He attempted to go through the snowbank and got himself good and stuck. It appears he’d gone through this bank before, but that was before we got more snow. It was an easy fix though; he just fired up the tractor and pulled it out.
You can tell from the pics that it was foggy when I took these on Sat. It was rainy and drizzly (is that even a word? oh well, it is now) which made the snow that we got overnight stick to everything and it was just amazing out in the woods. I took a ton of pics and I’ll start posting them tomorrow.
I went out snowshoeing Friday morning and we were already getting the freezing drizzle that was predicted for our area. It was about 28 degrees and expected to get much higher. The drizzle put a beautiful layer of frost on everything. The temperature managed to get into the mid-30’s on Friday and yesterday it got up to 40 and we had drizzle and rain, so needless to say, I never went snowshoeing. The temp. right now (5:00 am Sunday morning) is 29 degrees. It’s snowing and windy, it doesn’t look like we’re gonna get the 4-7 inches predicted for us, but I’m gonna keep hoping anyway. And I’m gonna go out and snowshoe no matter what. These pics are from Friday’s walk. I chose black and white because it seemed to make frost stand out more.
This was our sunrise Christmas morning. I thought the little sliver of moon was a nice touch.

We got another three inches or so of snow today and it was so beautiful outside. I know these pics probably don’t look like much here on the blog, but trust me, when I was out snowshoeing this afternoon, the beauty around me was simply breath-taking. It’s a shame that some of that gets lost in translation.
I know that I’ve posted this old tractor many times before, and trust me this won’t be the last. Same goes for the ladder and the fenceline pics that follow.
And last, but definitely not least, my best buddy, Axl.

So there I was this morning, making the 32 mile trek home from work, in a snowstorm, thinking about how great the snowshoeing’s gonna be with this extra snow, bopping along in my little Jeep Cherokee, rockin’ to the new Nickelback CD, (which is awesome, by the way, I highly recommend it) eating cookies for breakfast, (life is good, but it’s short too) and thinkin’ “It just doesn’t get any better than this”. Just thought I’d share that with you.
Yup, it seems that’s exactly what I have, and a pretty bad case of it too. I can’t seem to get enough of it. I’ve waited impatiently all spring, summer and fall for the chance to get back out on the snowshoes, so I’m gonna go every chance I get. So, needless to say I was out this morning for almost an hour and a half. It was 3 degrees and very calm and still. There was a layer of frost on all the trees and it was very beautiful out in the woods. I shot some pics to try to capture the beauty of the frost on the trees. I had to shoot in the direction of the sun, cuz that’s how the frost looked best, but they seemed to turn out pretty good anyway.
