the water is wide

The water is wide

I can’t cross o’er,

and neither have

I wings to fly.

Build me a boat

That can carry two,

And both shall row,

My Lord and I.

a daughter

A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.

first snow of the season

Yeah, I know, I’m quite late with these pics, but I wanted to get caught up with the few I had taken.  I took these on November 15.

clark lake

I took these shots about two weeks ago at Clark Lake in Goodman.  The timing was perfect; the lake was calm, the colors were peak and the light was just right.

random saturday

Well, after a couple cups of coffee this morning,  I hit the ground running.  We went out to Camp 6 Lake and my husband fished and I kayaked.  When we got home, we had lunch, I showered up and then I went to visit my neighbors for awhile.  When I got back, we went out to Seidel Lake and I kayaked while my husband fished.  We made a couple stops to visit family on the way home, and after supper, I went for a walk and found 5 more Monarch caterpillars.  I now have 7 caterpillars.  One of the caterpillars that I found the other day has already made it’s chrysalis this morning and I’ll take pics tomorrow and post them.  The following pics were taken throughout the day.

I forgot to mention that as I was taking my walk I startled a mama bunny who was nursing her 4 babies.  I didn’t mean to scare them, and the mama ran off as well as one of the babies.

lake hilbert

I went to visit my brother and his family last Sunday and while I was there I took some pictures of the lake to show how far down the water level is.   All the mud you see in the pictures used to be covered with water.  You’ll notice that the docks don’t even reach the water anymore.

The water used to be right up to where the tall grass starts in this picture, except for the area to the right where the tree is.  The dock used to be at the far left, but they moved it out farther, and now it is at the far right, but you can only see a tiny bit of it in this picture.  This lake has a lot of mud at the bottom, probably about two to three feet, but the water is only a few inches above the muck here in this area and my brother said you can walk right across the lake here now, in fact, the kids from across the lake did just that last weekend.

Lake Hilbert is made up of 3 sections.  They are referred to as first lake (the one I’m on in this shot), and in this picture you can see a small channel that leads into the second lake.  There is another channel that leads from the second lake into the third lake, but you can’t see it in this picture, but it would be on the right.

silence

We need to find God, and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence.  See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Random Pictures

Wow, it seems I’m really falling behind in my posting here.  It’s been so nice out that I’ve been spending much more time outside and much less indoors and on the computer.  I’ve taken quite a few pics this week and this is just a few of them that I picked out to post this time.  There will be plenty more to come.

This was taken the end of my driveway, facing north.  (HDR)

This is just a 1/2 mile down the road from my house.  (HDR)

This is a small lake in our area that is very close to drying up.  You can see how far from the water the dock is now.  We have had very little rainfall so far this spring and it is very dry here.  (HDR)

This is the barn down the road, captured in the morning light.  (HDR)

Solomon’s Seal

This is my neighbors farm, taken from across the deer pens.  (HDR)
