Thursday Morning

I went out snowshoeing Thursday morning and it was so peaceful and still, not even the slightest breeze.  Shortly after I left the house it started to snow, and it was just amazing out there in the woods.  I took some pictures, hoping to convey that peace and calm, but I don’t think I succeeded.  I guess you just had to be there.  There is just nothing better than a walk in the woods.  It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Due to lack of time, I’ll let my words be few and let the pictures speak for themselves.

Here’s a few pics I took while snowshoeing this afternoon.  It was 25 degrees, sunny and absolutely gorgeous.

Snowdog

This is how my dog Axl looks the whole time we’re out in the woods for a walk.  He just loves the snow, in fact, he acts like it snowed just for him.  His coat gets loaded up with snow real bad though, and it takes awhile to get him cleaned off once we get home.

Snowshoe Madness!!

It’s finally here!  The snow I have been waiting for since last winter!  As of noon today we have a good 8 inches and there’s more on the way.  After shoveling for two hours this morning, I got out for a trek on the snowshoes.  I could only go for about 1/2 hour, because I had other things to get done, but that’s OK, the important thing is I finally got to go.  Hopefully there will be less shoveling tomorrow and more time for ’shoeing.   Here’s a few pics I took along the way.  And yes, you guessed it, you’re gonna see that old tractor.  Again.

It just doesn’t get any better than this!

My partner in crime, Axl.

Morning Walk

Axl and I had a very enjoyable walk in the woods this morning.  It’s black powder season in Wis. this week, and even though there’s no one hunting around us this week, I’m still wearing my blaze orange to be on the safe side.   There will be people hunting here over the weekend though, so I’ll have to stay out of the woods for two days.  Here are a few pics from our walk.   It’s the same sights I’ve posted many times before, but I never get tired of them.

Happy Dog

My dog Axl, loves the snow more than any other dog we’ve ever had, and it shows in the following pictures.   He had a wonderful time jumping around, trying to catch the snowflakes.   after he got tired of that, we had a very enjoyable walk in the woods.

Look To This Day!

Look to this day!

For it is life, the very life of life.

In it’s brief course

Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:

The bliss of growth,

The glory of action,

The splendor of achievement.

For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision,

But today well lived makes every yesterday

A dream of happiness

And tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day!

Such is the salutation to the dawn.

Rustic Charm

I went to town for a few things this morning and on my way back, the yellow tamarack in this scene  caught my eye.  Thankfully I had my Rebel with  me, so I got a few shots of  it right out the window of the Jeep.  I also took some hand-held HDR shots, but when I processed them, I found I liked the originals better.  I did tweak the colors a bit, though.

First Snow

Well, we’ve finally gotten our first snowfall of the season.  Never mind that little dusting we got Saturday morning, this snow is sticking on the leaves and branches and the lawn, but fortunately not on the roads.   It doesn’t really matter though, because it will be melted tomorrow anyway.
