Mystery Flowers

I found 2 flowers that I can’t identify.  I’ve looked through several reference books and can’t find a thing.  This first one is only about 1/2 inch long, total height of the plant is about three feet tall and it has a square stem, which makes it a member of the mint family.

This little white flower comes up every year in the tall grass at the edge of our yard.  I also found it at the end of our neighbors driveway mixed in with bellflowers.  The blossoms are less than 1/2 inch across and the height of the plant is about 2 feet or so.  I think it may be a cultivated plant and not necessarily a wild one.  If anyone can tell what these are, I’d be most thankful.

Oh yeah, almost forgot; I took this one at sunrise today.  Have a great weekend!

Sky Watch Friday

I took the first 2 shots about 1/2 hour before sunrise this morning and the third one just as the sun was peeking over the trees.

Wednesday’s Treasures

I had a very nice, peaceful walk in the woods tonight.  Here’s a few things I found.

Monarch Caterpillar.  I’m hoping to someday find a cocoon.

Vintage Tuesday

This is another local barn, down a little side road just out of town.  I really don’t know the history of the barn, but I love to photograph it.  Surprisingly, I somehow neglected to photograph it in winter and spring.  I will, however, get those pics, then I can feature this barn in “4 Seasons”.  What I have here are my summer and fall shots.  I took the 3 fall shots on the same day, but at different times.  I thought it was pretty cool how the light and colors changed during the day.  I couldn’t decide which fall shot to use, so I am using all 3.  Notice the rising moon in the third pic.

Camera Critters and Photo Friday

OK, so I’m gonna cheat a little this time.  I wanted to put up a post for Camera Critters and one for Photo Friday.  When I checked to see what the challenge word was this week for Photo Friday, I saw that it was “Flight”.  This is perfect because I happen to have a picture of my dog, Axl, flying through the air.  My daughter and I took him down to the lake last summer, and I stood in the water as far as I could without getting my shorts wet and she threw the ball for him.  I was able to get this shot of him “flying”.
